ECO-DESIGN AT THE HEART OF COOKUT'S DNA

At Cookut, we are deeply committed to eco-design, integrating frugal and responsible practices at every stage of our innovation process. We believe that every product can contribute to a more environmentally respectful future, while offering exceptional quality and functionality. Our efforts focus on the use of recycled materials, reducing plastic, durability and repairability, and design without electricity. Discover how we bring our vision of eco-design to life through five fundamental criteria.

Each year, we increase the integration of recycled materials into our production process. The production of cookware, such as recycled aluminum pans, has a significantly reduced environmental impact compared to the production of non-recycled aluminum pans (1).

Our aluminum, used in the bodies of our cookware ranges: The Incredible and The Fabulous, is 100% recycled, which accounts for more than 70% of the total finished product (2).

Additionally, the few products in the Cookut range outside of cookware (Incredible and Fabulous) that contain plastic parts are made from 100% recycled plastic (like the iconic MIAM pancake shaker).

Since 2023, Cookut has been striving to design products using as many recycled materials as possible within industrial limits and capabilities.

(1) Reduction in CO2 Emissions: The aluminum recycling process emits significantly less CO2 compared to primary aluminum production. Using recycled aluminum can reduce the carbon footprint of the material by up to 20 times compared to using new aluminum (World Bank Blogs) (Dynacast).

RECYCLED PACKAGING WITHOUT PLASTIC

Cookut is committed to eco-design in its packaging by using recycled materials and drastically reducing the use of plastic and expanded polystyrene.

2024 Data by Product References (3):

  • 94% of products have kraft packaging with a composition of 60% recycled paper and 40% wood pulp.
  • 96% of our products have no plastic packaging.
  • 98% of our products have no polystyrene cushioning (Goal: 100% by 2025).

Cookut aims to achieve 0% expanded polystyrene cushioning for all its products by 2025.

The focus is on protecting products during transport while reducing environmental impact. This approach aims to optimize packaging to limit cushioning, making it both functional and environmentally friendly. All our packaging is FSC certified (4).(3) 2024 Report - Packaging by Product

Frugal Innovation, the COOKUT commitment: we design our products with a reduced number of parts to minimize the risk of failure, increase their repairability, and extend their lifespan.

To this end, we offer a wide range of spare parts. Our products are designed to be easily disassembled and reassembled, allowing you to replace only the defective elements without having to change everything. We guarantee the availability of spare parts for at least 15 years: commitment, 15 years of spare parts.

Our goal is to be able to provide spare parts for 100% of our permanent products consisting of multiple components by 2025. In 2024, we are capable of providing spare parts for 90% of these products (5). To find the list of these products and all the spare parts, follow this link:

REDUCTION OF PLASTIC

We strive to reduce the use of plastic in our product design, with an ambitious goal for 2025: less than 2% plastic, including packaging. In 2023, the measured plastic content in our products was already at 1.95%(6). COOKUT's actions to reduce plastic usage have resulted in 85.9 tons less plastic being introduced to the market in 2023 compared to the reference year of 2020. This approach not only reduces our reliance on plastic materials but also contributes to the protection of natural resources and waste reduction.

PRODUCTS THAT DO NOT USE ELECTRICITY

We innovate by offering non-electric alternatives to electric products, thereby reducing our environmental impact.

We offer an alternative to traditional raclette machines, which consume a lot of electricity, with an individual raclette device made without plastic, using candles for heating. We have invented a shaker to make pancake batter and cake bases, replacing electric mixers. This approach reduces energy consumption and decreases electronic waste while simplifying the use of our products and maintaining their performance and quality. It contributes to a more sustainable and responsible lifestyle.
